- Management and press office roles for specific campaigns – the latest of which included working on the PR launch of a new exhibition ‘Collider’ about CERN’s Large Hadron Collider. Coverage secured included front page story in The Independent, the Guardian, Daily Telegraph, The Times, London Evening Standard, Metro, New Statesman, Prospect, The Economist, BBC Radio 4’s PM programme, ITN online and numerous magazines and online news sites. - I worked in-house for the Science Museum as Senior Press Officer for several years regularly dealing with national and international print, online and broadcast media
- Responsibilities included devising and implementing national/regional/international PR campaigns for new exhibitions, gallery launches, arts projects and events
- Handling crisis communications
- Running high-profile/VIP-attended press events
- Line-managing the press team
- Advising internal (all the way up to Director and Trustee level) and external stakeholders on PR activity
- Working with social media and brand teams to integrate activity
- Handling internal communications and corporate communications activity for parent body NMSI (National Museum of Science & Industry – now called the Science Museum Group)
Highlights included:
- Managing the PR campaign for the launch of the new climate change gallery, ‘atmosphere’, including the press launch and official opening by HRH The Prince of Wales
- Managing the PR campaign for the Science Museum centenary in 2009 (attracting celebrity support, generating national media coverage and managing the press event with Lord Mandelson as guest speaker)
- Managing the PR campaign for the launch of the refurbished Launchpad gallery and the press launch with official guest speaker – Prime Minister (of the time) Gordon Brown
