Client: Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity. It now helps more than 230,000 cats and kittens every year through its network of over 250 volunteer-run branches, 29 adoption centres and one homing centre. www.cats.org.uk
Activity:
- I manage several ‘over-spill’ PR projects for the in-house team including writing press releases, securing celebrity support, media sell-in, photocall management and ongoing press liaison for campaigns including ‘I’m a Celebrity…Let Me Volunteer’ (in 2011 and 2012), Volunteer of the Year Awards (2011), Catathon world-record attempt (2012) and various fundraising initiatives including the Gold Challenge in partnership with the British Olympics Association
- I occasionally handle one-off stories such as ‘Yonda the stowaway cat’ (July/Aug 2012) about a kitten discovered hiding in a delivery van that had travelled from Turkey to Kent. The story, released in the first week of the Olympic Games, generated headlines on BBC News Online, Sky News, ITV News, BBC Newsround, The Sun, Metro and numerous regional and online outlets via the Press Association.
- Press support for volunteering campaign ‘I’m a Celebrity…’ involved managing national media sell-in and a photocall with model Lucy Pinder and West End/ex-Hollyoaks star Carley Stenson at the North London Adoption Centre. The previous year I supported local branch Dereham Adoption Centre in Norfolk, securing support from Anglia TV newsreader Becky Jago.
“Kerry was professional from start to finish. She carried out the work with enthusiasm and delivered exactly what was needed. A pleasure to work with!”
